Summary

The Canadian Perspectives Survey Series (CPSS) is a set of short, online surveys beginning in March 2020 that will be used to collect information on the knowledge and behaviours of residents of the 10 Canadian provinces. All surveys in the series will be asked of Statistics Canada’s probability panel. The probability panel for the CPSS is a new pilot project initiated in 2019. An important goal of the CPSS is to directly collect data from Canadians in a timely manner in order to inform policy makers and be responsive to emerging data needs. The CPSS is designed to assess the quality and viability of a more timely collection model using willing participants and web-only collection. CPSS is designed to produce data at a national level (excluding the territories).

1. In 2020: From March 29 to April 3 2020, the first survey in the Canadian Perspecives Survey Series : Impacts of COVID-19. In order to implement this survey rapidly, it was conducted online only, among those who volunteered to participate in the Canadian Perspectives Survey Series (CPSS). This survey will be the first of the CPSS.
2. From May 4 to May 10 2020, Canadian Perspectives Survey Series 2: Monitoring the Effects of COVID-19 (CPSS2). The CPSS2 covered a number of important topics including: the impacts of COVID-19 on food security and mental health of individuals, and on their social and employment circumstances.
3. From June 15 to June 21, 2020, Canadian Perspectives Survey Series 3: Resuming economic and social activities during COVID-19 (CPSS3). This survey was the third wave of the CPSS. The CPSS3 covered Canadians' reactions and responses to the gradual reopening of economic and social activities during COVID-19.
4. From July 20 to July 26 2020, Canadian Perspectives Survey Series 4: Information Sources Consulted During the Pandemic (CPSS4). This survey was the fourth wave of the CPSS. The CPSS4 covered a number of important topics including: the source and quality of COVID-19 information that Canadians are accessing, ongoing impacts of COVID-19 on the physical and mental health of individuals, and on their social and employment circumstances.
5. From September 14 to September 20, 2020, Canadian Perspectives Survey Series 5: Technology use and cyber security during the pandemic (CPSS5). This survey was the fifth wave of the CPSS. The CPSS5 covered a number of important topics including technology use, cyber security practices and online spending during the pandemic.
6. In 2021: From January 25 to January 31, Canadian Perspectives Survey Series 6: Substance Use and Stigma during the Pandemic.
