In this presentation, Andrew Heisz presents the Longitudinal and International Study of Adults (LISA), a new Canadian longitudinal social survey, sponsored by Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC) and administered by Statistics Canada. The first data collection (wave-1) was carried from November 2011 to June 2012. He summarizes its main features and preliminary results. The first wave was developed to provide longitudinal information on labour market, education/training/skills and family experiences, in connection with the Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC), an OECD initiative to assess skills and competencies of working-age adults across 26 countries. Data from the T1 family files (from 1982 to the collection year), T4 files (from 1990 to the collection year) and Pension Plan file (from 1998 to the collection year) will be linked to the LISA file.
