Résumé (anglais)
In this paper I look at how birth order affects a Canadian adolescent’s propensity to engage in risky behaviour such as, smoking, drinking, marijuana use, and drug trafficking. Using data from the National Longitudinal Survey of Children and Youth I investigate the impact of having at least one older sibling on a child’s liklihood to enagage in these behaviours. My results demonstrate that middle and last borns are much more likely to angage in risky behaviours than first borns. This suggests that birth order is an important determinent of risky adolescent activity.
