Geospatial analysis in R
November 14, 2024 to November 15, 2024
9:00AM to 12:30PM
This virtual workshop introduces participants to functions and methods of geospatial analysis within the field of Geographic Information Science (GIS). Participants learn how to use descriptive statistics on geospatial datasets, analyze point patterns, perform cluster analyses, as well as apply interpolation methods and geographically weighted regression analyses.
Prerequisites: Participants should have a basic knowledge of R programming and familiarity with the tidyverse package. Some understanding of fundamental geographic concepts and experience with spatial data is recommended. Prior experience with GIS software is beneficial but not required.
Objectives:
- Understand fundamental geospatial analysis functions and methods
- Apply descriptive statistics to geospatial datasets
- Analyze point patterns in geographic data
- Acquire practical skills in Geographic Information Science (GIS)
