Hate Crime Policing Incident Profile
2011 - 2018
Overview
Summary
The Hate Crime Policing Incident Profile (HCPIP) files are the first set of files produced for this Canadian-Sweden Research Collaboration on Organized Violent Threats. To develop the HCPIP files, which identify a cohort of individuals that were involved in police-reported hate crime incidents that occurred between 2011 and 2018, incidents from the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) survey were flagged using the hate crime indicator. Unique person identifiers were then created to identify individuals involved in crimes and then all previous and subsequent police-reported incidents of those involved in hate crimes were included. Subsequently, using available postal code information mapped to standard dissemination area (DA) codes, the files were supplemented with the Canadian Index of Multiple Deprivation (CIMD).
