British-Columbia Income Assistance – Income Tax Administrative Files
2009 - 2018
Overview
Summary
The British Columbia Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction, as part of research into basic income in the context of BC’s current income support system has supplied a dataset featuring monthly income support usage patterns for cases and persons who are members of the affected family units. A linkage between British Columbia’s Employment and Assistance data to various administrative files has been created that features select elements from the T1 Income Tax and Benefit return as well as summaries of the T4, T4E and T5007 slips issued over the period. This dataset, devoid of any personal identifiers, should permit the analysis of trajectories into and out of income support programs to further a better understanding and improvements to assistance policies or programs.
