Résumé (anglais)
In 2010, the Ontario Ministry of Education, as part of its research strategy, launched the Knowledge Network for Applied Educational Research (KNAER). This was a tripartite agreement between the Ministry and Western University (UWO) and the Ontario Institute for the Studies of Education, University of Toronto (OISE/UT). The KNAER was created to bridge the gap between education research and practice through the development and support of networks where knowledge mobilization strategies were used to transfer applied educational research to the field. This is one of the first steps in circulating research that can inform future policy – formally and informally. Using a wide range of research, KNAER supports knowledge brokering to the various stakeholders such as teachers, school districts, parent groups, professional associations, Ministry branches and divisions and not-for-profit agencies. This presentation focuses on the complex collaborative KNAER governance structure required to implement such an initiative. It provides a detailed description of the KNAER genesis, including a review of the success and challenges encountered, and concludes with several recommendations for future government/university collaborative work.
