Statistics Canada recently launched a public consultation for the revision of the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Canada and the North American Product Classification System (NAPCS) Canada. All interested parties are invited to provide their comments, feedback and suggestions online. For all details, including the guidelines for submitting proposals for changes, please visit the NAICS and the NAPCS websites.Additional information
OPMIC will be meeting with all divisions at Statistics Canada using either NAICS or NAPCS Canada between now and October 2019 as pre-Consultation to gather their comments and suggestions on classification “evergreening” and key issues/topics important to subject matter divisions and the SNA, for this revision process of NAICS and NAPCS Canada.
We also request that divisions invite us to their meetings with their key clients or stakeholders where we can discuss potential changes to our classification systems. As a conjunction of efforts in outreaching to the public, if OPMIC meets with our classifications stakeholders as well, we will invite divisions we know are interested in the topics to be discussed.
