Census of Population 2021 now available in RDCs

Exciting news for Research Data Centre (RDC) users, as the Census of Population (2021) is now available for download!

Researchers should note that the Census 2021 Main Module rules retroactively apply to all previous Census cycles, and that a few new notes apply for this iteration of the national Census:

“Gender” replaces “sex” for 2021 data.

Gender diverse variables, such as “non-binary” and “transgender”, and “sex” are not included in the Census (2021) Main Module, however information about the release of Gender Diversity Data will be available at a future date.

Changes to methodology for rounding as well as new guidelines for minimum cell sizes apply to all new census projects (regardless of which data collection wave is being used).

Researchers can direct any questions they have about the Census to the analyst at their local RDC.
