Call for Proposals

The Canadian Research Data Centre Network (CRDCN) invites submissions of abstracts by March 1, 2026, proposing papers and/or posters (see poster guidelines below) to be presented in-person at its conference at the University of Lethbridge, from May 21-22, 2026.

All research that makes use of microdata is welcome, with preference given to research using data available through Canadian Research Data Centres (RDCs) or at the Federal Research Data Centre (FRDC) in Ottawa. CRDCN researchers are generally in disciplines such as population health, epidemiology, economics and business, sociology, social work, political science, geography, and environmental studies, but researchers from all disciplines are welcome.   For examples of past papers, please visit the Past Conferences page of our website. Please note that the call for proposal for CRDCN 2026 is now closed.

Submission guidelines

Submissions of up to 1000 words are invited through our web portal. The submission should describe the findings (or expected findings) of the project, data, and methods, and should provide sufficient detail to be evaluated by the scientific committee.

  • Proposal submission deadline: March 1, 2026 midnight EST
  • Proposal decision date: March 16, 2026
  • Early-bird registration deadline: March 20, 2026 midnight EST

Thanks to the support of the Government of Canada, we will be providing conference presenter honoraria of $500 for up to 20 presenters. Presenters with submissions on the topics of education, labour markets, labour market programming, and other talks related to employment and/or social development can apply to be considered for this stipend. Acceptance of these funds requires that you consent to your presentation being recorded and posted to the CRDCN channels. Opting into this stream does not guarantee funding, as eligibility criteria apply and support is limited.

Thanks to the Productivity Partnership, some funding will also be available to support students

More information about the conference will be made available on our 2026 conference webpage as it becomes available. Papers and posters will be selected by a Scientific Committee chaired by Dr. Tom Perks, Professor of Sociology at the University of Lethbridge.

Presentation session guidelines:

Authors of papers in the presentation session will be asked to speak for 15-20 minutes, followed by a Q&A with attendees.

Session Proposals:

Researchers wanting to submit a full organized session of 3-4 papers should reach out to Grant Gibson at grant.gibson@crdcn.ca with details of their request.
