CRDCN data and policy circles

CRDCN researchers and Academic Directors have asked how the CRDCN central team can help make connections between researchers with shared interests in particular datasets, as well as between researchers and colleagues in the government and non-profit sectors. In response, we are launching CRDCN data and policy circles. Please take a few minutes to read through the details below and consider joining a CRDCN data or policy circle.

CRDCN data circles

Join a CRDCN data circle if you are a researcher interested in:

  • connecting with other researchers working on datasets that you use or are planning on using;
  • connecting with Statistics Canada colleagues responsible for a particular dataset;
  • advocating for training related to a particular dataset; or
  • exploring opportunities for documentation-sharing by researchers using a particular dataset.

List of datasets: Census, Canadian Community Health Survey (CCHS), Longitudinal Immigration Database (IMDB), Education and Labour Market Longitudinal Platform (ELMLP), and the Longitudinal Administrative Databank (LAD). If you’re interested in a particular dataset that isn’t currently part of the initiative, please let us know which dataset interests you. We will create new data circles based on interest and our capacity to support them.

CRDCN policy circles

Join a CRDCN policy circle if you are a researcher interested in:

  • advising colleagues in government or the non-profit sector on data and analysis needed to address their priority areas where they are relevant to your work;
  • providing government or non-profit sector colleagues with an assessment of their research questions and findings in the context of your expertise in the field; or
  • conducting data analysis and research to inform policy, programs and practice in the government or non-profit sector.

CRDCN will contact researchers interested in researcher-policy exchanges if and when such opportunities arise.
