Résumé (anglais)

This article summarizes the present state of knowledge on the development of anger and aggression during early childhood. Two approaches are taken: (1) a historical approach to place present knowledge in the context of knowledge since the Greek and Roman philosophers deliberated about it and (2) an intergenerational approach to show the role of early childhood development of anger and aggression with reference to future development of the individual, and past development of his parents. The developmental associations between anger and aggression are highlighted, and chronic problems of anger and aggression are discussed with reference to risk factors, outcomes, and prevention.
