Abstract (English)

This study examines the influence of the share capital of the school and family on human capital formation among youth by examining how social capital allows students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds to overcome the difficulties inherent in their origin. Data from PISA 2000, conducted among young Canadians, show that there is a significant association between social capital of school and family and student achievement in reading. The ANOVA test shows that, regardless of socio-economic background, students who score above the national average are those who have a share capital of the high school regarding the use educational resources available.
