11:00AM
April 30, 2026 to April 30, 2026
McMaster’s Research Data Management (RDM) Roundtable returns for our last session of the year on Thursday, April 30 from 11 AM-12 PM about reproducibility and sharing for human participant research data. This is a not-to-miss event for researchers from Health Science to Social Science/Humanities and beyond navigating the technical, legal, and ethical implications of data availability.

Reproducibility for sensitive research data supports patient participants, makes research investments go further, and ensures research quality and integrity. We’ll hear from invited guests about restricted access, data harmonization, available software, and working together as a disciplinary community. Around the table:
- Dipika Desai (McMaster University), Program Manager at the Population Health Research Institute who oversees the South Asian birth cohort (START), the South Asian Heart Risk Assessment (SAHARA), and the Canadian Alliance for Healthy Hearts and Minds (CAHHM)
- Dr. Isabel Fortier (McGill University), PI for Maelstrom Research Platform which provides the international research community from diverse disciplines with resources (expertise, methods, and software) to leverage and support data harmonization and integration across studies.
- Dr. Grant Gibson (McMaster University), Assistant Director Research & Evaluation, Canadian Research Data Centre Network; Economics Researcher, and Co-Chair of the Digital Research Alliance of Canada’s Sensitive Data Expert Group.
Our monthly series is an ongoing discussion between McMaster researchers (faculty, staff, and students) on how they’re managing research data—questions, considerations, concerns, wins—across disciplines. Roundtables run alongside our regular workshops, including Students deserve Research Data Management! Teaching with the RDM Educators Kit on May 5.
