Overview
Summary
The CCMED is a database developed at Statistics Canada in collaboration with the provincial and territorial Chief Coroners and Chief Medical Examiners and the Public Health Agency of Canada. Currently, the CCMED combines information from 12 provincial and territorial databases to provide national level information on deaths reported to and investigated by coroners and medical examiners. The CVSD is an administrative survey that collects demographic and medical (cause of death) information annually and monthly from all provincial and territorial vital statistics registries on all deaths in Canada.
